The Role
The Group Head plays a vital leadership role within the Media Team, overseeing a portfolio of clients and leading a team of media professionals. This position requires a strategic and results-oriented individual with a proven track record in media planning, client management, and team leadership. The Group Head Media is responsible for developing and executing innovative, cross-media strategies that achieve client objectives, while effectively managing budgets and fostering a positive and productive team environment.
Responsibilities:
- Client Relationship Management: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with clients, acting as the primary point of contact and trusted advisor across all communication channels. Provide strategic counsel and guidance on media landscape trends and opportunities.
- Strategic Media Planning & Execution: Lead the development and implementation of comprehensive, cross-media strategies that align with client business goals. Oversee the creation and execution of media plans, ensuring effective budget allocation and performance optimization.
- Budget Management: Assume full responsibility for budget management, including forecasting, tracking, and reporting on media spend. Identify opportunities for cost efficiencies and maximize ROI.
- Team Leadership & Development: Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of media professionals. Provide guidance, training, and performance feedback to foster professional growth and development. Conduct regular performance reviews and identify training needs.
- Process Management & Control: Oversee and streamline all internal workflow processes, ensuring efficient project management, coordination, and quality control. Implement best practices and optimize resource allocation.
- Collaboration & Communication: Collaborate effectively with internal teams (creative, strategy, digital, etc.) and external partners (media vendors, research agencies, etc.) to ensure seamless campaign execution. Act as the key liaison between the client and internal teams.
- New Business Development: Participate in new business pitches, contributing media expertise and strategic insights to win new clients.
- Reporting & Analysis: Regularly monitor and analyze campaign performance, providing clients with insightful reports and recommendations for optimization. Utilize data and analytics to inform strategic decision-making.
Desired Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Advertising, Communications, or a related field.
- Minimum 4-5 years of experience in a media agency environment, with a focus on strategic planning and client management.
- Proven experience in developing and executing cross-media strategies across various channels (digital, print, broadcast, OOH, etc.).
- Strong understanding of media planning principles, methodologies, and tools.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and lead a team effectively, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Excellent client relationship management skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with senior-level stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and draw actionable insights.
- Excellent communication (written and verbal), presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
- Fluency in German is required.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and maintain a positive attitude under pressure.
