The Role

A unique aspect to our integrated setup is the role of the Audience Strategist. This role works with data of all kinds, to ensure that true data-led insights power all our strategic thinking and implementation. This role will therefore sit at the heart of planning workflows, rather than in a silo, with close collaboration with internal account teams. The successful candidate will deliver the Audience Strategy agenda by working with clients directly, being responsive to team needs, and upskilling colleagues as needed. Audience strategies will be delivered by maintaining excellent technical knowledge of media and platform data capabilities, our GroupM/WPP toolkit, and client capabilities and priorities.

 

Key Responsibilities
Our Audience Strategy work is carried all the way through a campaign response, so being able to champion, explain and work with audience data from beginning to end of the process is a crucial requirement. The successful candidate will have a hands-on approach to data analysis and audience storytelling, as well as being able to both brief out but also design and analyse bespoke research studies to complement the other data sources we have available.

  • Be the lead for Audience Strategy work for a number of UK clients, including SEGB, Britvic and Govia Thameslink (GTR)
  • Deliver fleshed-out target audiences to understand their attitudes, behaviours, motivations, and specific category consumption metrics
  • Identify interesting insights into those audiences that help inspire fresh strategic thinking and ideas
  • Present complex data and strategic recommendations clearly to both internal teams and clients
  • Help develop prioritised messaging matrices, utilising the breadth of the tools and datasets available to identify what creative approaches would resonate best for this audience
  • Recommend and justify the selection of appropriate media channels to effectively reach specific audiences
  • Work as a joined-up member of the Audience Strategy team, assisting on new business pitches, collaborating on team workstreams and providing support to the wider agency on using our tools
  • Stay current with the ever-evolving media landscape, new technologies, and relevant data and research vendors

 

Skills and Experience

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights
  • Passion for understanding consumer behaviour and curiosity to dig beyond the initial answers to find deeper, surprising audience insights
  • Proven ability to analyse multiple datasets (quantitative, qualitative, and behavioural) and synthesise findings from different tools and sources to draw comprehensive conclusions and recommendations
  • Experience in developing data-driven audience recommendations aligned with client objectives
  • Proficiency in using tools and platforms such as Telmar, GWI, YouGov Profiles, SimilarWeb, Google Insights Finder and so on
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal, with experience presenting findings and recommendations to clients and  internal stakeholders
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and thrive in a fast-paced environment
